Why My Little Pony Friendship is AWESOME

I know.... I know! You already know that this show is the greatest one ON EARTH. But I'm going to tell you what my friends have come up with, it's actually ridiculously rad.
As with all cartoons, there are quite a few adult themes within the show. The ponies of course battle issues of friendship but other problems also include forms of racism and class separation. A picnic brought out a comparison of Equestria (the empire in which the ponies all thrive) to that of Plato's Republic. There are classes, earth ponies are the ones like Pinkie Pie and Apple Jack, ones that have no unicorn horn or wings are the bronze class. They often do low level jobs, Apple Jack runs an apple farm and Pinkie Pie is a baker and often throws parties for people. Then there are the Pegasus ponies which are the ones with the wings, like Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash is a racer above anything else but the other winged ponies that you see through out the show are often the silver class, that is that they are warrior types or officers more often than not. And then the gold class are the unicorns, and not just because horns are randomly more special than wings but because the unicorns have magic!

The gold class for Plato did the high end brainy jobs with included politics and knowledgeable arts. Rarity and Twilight Sparkle are often using their magic to help them do things. Rarity is a fashion designer and Twilight Sparkle is a historian of sorts, at the end of every show she sends a letter to Princess Celestia about the day and what she has learned about friendship for that episode. Oh and Princess Celestia and her sister Luna Moon are not only unicorns but they also have wings, and they are drawn different to show their superiority to the rest of Ponyville (the town in which our favorite ponies live). So beyond the awesome power of friendship the show often preaches about finding you place in the world, I mean take a look at the Cutey Mark Crusaders, who every time they appear are trying to find their special talent in hopes that the marks that are on their flanks will appear (Because you only get that awesome picture on your leg when you discover your place in the world). But in between finding your special talent you also seems to have to understand your place in society. Which is a real down to earth Platonic ideal, that everyone learns their place and stays there for the good of society.
After you see the philosophical ideals and the class variation in Ponyville, you'll notice as the ponies travel and other ponies from Equestria visit Ponyville, that some ponies have problems with other four legged creatures. For the ponies all other animals seem to either be subservient (even dragons! Twilight Sparkle's assistant is Spike the dragon.) or they aren't equal in some other manner. As in when the group was transferring an apple tree to the apple orchard out west, they learned that the settlers there had taken the buffalo's sacred running grounds. It is felt that had the buffalo been ponies this wouldn't have happened but because they were a different type of four legged creature some thing that they considered sacred was cast aside as unimportant and was taken in order to serve the ponies. Also, when a Zebra comes to Ponyville Pinkie Pie has a hell of a time of accepting her. Which shows a strong color of racism within the pony world. Even though, a zebra is mostly a horse with stripes.
The adult themes in the show are beyond the brightly colored ponies on the screen. They transcend the human ideal to show that these problems arise within every society. In a cute awesome, way the ponies show us not only how friendship overcomes all things but more importantly how tolerance and compromise can help every situation. Besides, they are BRIGHT COLORFUL PONIES and they are awesome.
So now that you see why ponies are awesome...
Love and hoof bumps,
Morose Corsair
